Claude Science traces back to a biotech acquisition and a Nobel hire

The launch of Claude Science is underpinned by two moves reported this week: Anthropic's acquisition of Coefficient Bio, and the hiring of John Jumper, who led the AlphaFold team at Google DeepMind and shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Bringing in a Nobel laureate to help shape a scientific AI product is a strong signal of how seriously Anthropic is chasing credibility with research institutions, not just developers.
