Huawei, Cambricon and SMIC fill the gap Nvidia left in China

As Nvidia's China market share has collapsed under export controls, domestic chipmakers Huawei, Cambricon and SMIC have moved to fill the gap with a state-directed compute ecosystem.

Building CUDA-compatible architectures is a deliberate strategy to lower the switching cost for Chinese developers who built their software stacks around Nvidia's ecosystem, easing the transition away from it.
