OpenAI and Anthropic combined accounted for $217 billion — 43% of all global startup funding — in the first half of 2026, according to Crunchbase.
The concentration illustrates how dramatically capital has consolidated around the two frontier labs, even as hundreds of other AI startups compete for the remaining funding pool.
