Mistral in talks to raise €3B at a €20B valuation
  • Mistral AI is in talks to raise €3 billion at a €20 billion valuation
  • Most of the funds are earmarked for building the company's own data centers
  • Mistral already secured $830 million in debt financing in March 2026 for data center expansion
  • The company targets an intermediate milestone of up to 200 megawatts of capacity by 2027, scaling to 1 gigawatt by 2030

Building instead of renting

Choosing to build proprietary data center capacity rather than continuing to lease cloud compute is a capital-intensive bet — one that only makes sense if Mistral expects compute costs and availability to remain a long-term competitive lever, not just a near-term bottleneck.
